RI dishes up a mean seafood festival

I had my first taste of spicy crawfish (yum, like mini lobsters) and ‘gator bites (just like chicken nuggets) at Charlestown’s 26th annual seafood festival in Rhode Island on Sunday.

Sure, it was hot and muggy but that didn’t stop us from eating or going on the rides there. Food was cheap and plentiful too.

A gastronomic extravaganza of Rhode Island’s best seafood, lobsters, steamers, chowder, fish & chips, clam cakes, corn on the cob and a raw bar, as well as an array of all types of foods for every taste.

I especially enjoyed the generous steamed RI mussels but I missed fresh oysters – almost everything was fried. Not complaining though – hope to be back next year!
